Description of Kakwa Provincial Park & Protected Area: Kakwa Provincial Park showcases iceclad mountains, extensive alpine meadows and a section of the Continental Divide. Main physical features include Mount Sir Alexander (3270 m), Mount Ida (3189 m) and Kakwa Lake. Summer activities include camping, hiking, fishing, and horseback trips. Winter activities include snowmobiling and wilderness ski tours. The wide range of species diversity gives excellent opportunity for wildlife viewing. Visitors interested in photography will appreciate the incredible beauty of the remote area. Winter visitors should note limited access routes apply. Reservations are not accepted at this park, all campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. |

The RV park features full hook ups, hot showers, laundromat, facilities for the handicapped, pull throughs, pay phone, sani dump and snack store. There are 87 vehicle/tent sites and a group site situated in this Ponderosa pine, bunchgrass habitat. The abandoned right-of-way of the Kettle Valley section of the CPR passes through. Wide open spaces, great fishing, wildlife, old west history and a quieter camping spot can all be yours in less than a 90 minute drive from the central Okanagan. Located in the heart of cattle country, the rolling grasslands and dry open forest surround the sparkling turquoise waters of Kentucky Lake and Alleyne Lake. The scenery is spectacular from early April to late October with springs’ palette of soft pastels slowly changing to the vibrant golds of autumn. This area is very popular for fishing and even features a 'children only' fishery to foster interest in the sport among youth. The ponds between Kentucky Lake and Alleyne Lake are open only to those under the age of 16. The lakes and ponds are stocked with rainbow trout from the Summerland Trout Hatchery. Depending on temperatures, there are ice fishing opportunities in the park.

Kekuli Bay Provincial Park is located off Highway 97, 11 km. south of Vernon. The park is situated on a beautiful bay on the west side of Kalamalka Lake, a destination for waterskiing and boating. A newly developed campground has been added to the area which formerly consisted only of a boat launch., Kekuli Bay is a brand new campground and, as such, has no shade. Many young shade trees were planted and the grassy areas between the sites are beautifully landscaped. The park is open from May 1- Oct 31 after which the gate to the campground is locked.
